Blog: July 2011

27th July 2011

Heading off to Chicago this morning. It's going to be weird and a little sad not to be taking Lela or Rafa with me :-((((

Our NB Awareness week was a huge success, we are pumped for next year already :-)

I had meetings at school with the teachers yesterday to go over the report cards :-) Both are doing fabulously, I am so happy!!

16th July 2011

Everything is set to go for next week's Facebook campaign :-) I have been busy editing and uploading personal badges as they are requested. We have another editor in the US, so between the 2 time zones we are managing to keep up - so far!! We are also using Pay It Forward vouchers to raise awareness - a novel approach - not sure how people here in Australia will react? I'll let you know ;-)

15th July 2011

Rafael and Gabriela have been enjoying the school holidays :-) They have been sleeping in each day, one day Rafa didn't get up until nearly 11 am ;-)

We were given tickets to Disney on Ice (from Camp Quality) and they didn't know until we got there :-)

Rafael went to see Cars 2 for a birthday party, Gabriela also went to a movie party and they've watched Transformers 3 (Rafael 2 X!)

Their biggest treat so far was all of us going to watch Harry Potter on opening day! I thought they might get too sad, but they didn't cry at all. Gabriela was in heaven :-))

They had some friends sleep over and I took them all to the pool the next day!

Hopefully they've rested enough and are energised for next term ;-)

I have also managed to clean out their rooms, throw stuff away and tidy them - AHHHHHH :-)) One happy Mummy xxx

8th July 2011

Well, 7th July has passed, another year that our lives B.C. seems soooooo long ago :-(

3 years since we had the confirmation - yes, it's Neuroblastoma, it's stage 4 and we have a battle on our hands!

However, we are all well, happy and enjoying life :-) We make the most of each day, knowing how precious life really is!

Rafael is doing fabulously :-) Cancer kid? What cancer? When we meet new people, they are surprised when we say "Yes, he is cute! You wouldn't even know ;-)"

As for Rafael's harem, he continues to add to it :-))))

Clinically, he is in excellent health, although small, he a typical 7 year old boy :-) 3 years ago ..... who would have thought??? .......

We should have been having scans again this week, but we "slipped" through the booking system and I've just been letting it slide! How could I you ask????

Well, usually when we have scan dates in advance, leading up to that week, I start to get scared and worried and stressed blah, blah. This time, I feel relaxed, I feel "free". We don't have A date, I don't have to "think" about it, dwell on the "what if's"

I am heading off to Chicago in 3 weeks to attend the annual CNCF Conference for Parents. The speaker agenda has been released and I am very looking forward to hearing all of their presentations :-)

When I get back, I will get in touch with the hospital and arrange the scans ;-)

It has been a hard year, so many warriors have become Angels :-( It's just so unfair and I hate it!!!

Prof Hicks received an award for a world 1st PET scan technique his team developed for melanoma. We are so proud of him and his team X

Rafael, you are my HERO and I love you SO much. Forever and ever, kissers and huggers xxxoooxxx
